Philippe Coutinho eager to secure World Cup spot

Philippe Coutinho believes that an impressive season for Liverpool could help him force his way into Brazil's World Cup squad.

Philippe Coutinho has revealed that he is hoping to secure a spot in Brazil's World Cup squad by displaying his best form for Liverpool.

The attacking midfielder impressed for the Merseyside club towards the end of last season after joining from Inter Milan in January.

"Of course, it is a dream of mine. I need to have a good season at Liverpool, take my chances here and hopefully that would give me a chance of being called up for the national team," he said.

"It would be my biggest step in football and I will do my utmost to be there.

"Because it is a different style of football and it is much more intensive and quicker here, Brazilian players have to work hard to be able to do what we need to do when we play."

Coutinho and Liverpool begin the Premier League season by hosting Stoke City tomorrow afternoon.
