Craig Bellamy says that Luis Suarez is "a credit" to Liverpool, despite the Uruguayan's bad luck.

Craig Bellamy has said that Luis Suarez is "a credit" to Liverpool, despite the Uruguayan's run of bad luck in the Premier League.

Suarez has hit the woodwork five times this season, while he has found himself in trouble for alleged racist language used towards Manchester United's Patrice Evra, and for appearing to make an offensive gesture towards Fulham fans.

"I've not seen a forward quite like him ability-wise and for luck as well, he constantly hits either the post or the bar," Bellamy said.

"He could be on a lot more goals than what he is, but performance-wise is enough for us. The way he goes about his business, he is a credit to us."

The Welshman also believes that the Reds' work in training is starting to reflect on the pitch.

"We work hard in training on keeping our shape, working hard for each other and closing the gap between the lines," Bellamy said.

"With players like Luis in attack, we do have an opportunity to win a lot more games than we lose.

"We are part of an incredible football club. To represent this club is a privilege, but you do have to carry a certain responsibility and style of play. Fortunately we have a lot of players who deserve to play at this club."

Liverpool are currently sixth in the Premier League with 29 points from 16 games.
