John Aldridge: 'Daniel Sturridge frustration is to be applauded'

Liverpool legend John Aldridge says that Daniel Sturridge was right to be frustrated having been substituted without scoring in the Reds' 4-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has praised Daniel Sturridge's attitude after the Reds' 4-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.

Sturridge was visibly annoyed at being substituted for Victor Moses in the 76th minute, but Aldridge has said that his frustration at not being on the scoresheet should not be confused with a poor attitude.

Speaking in his Liverpool Echo column, Aldridge wrote: "[Sturridge] was very disappointed when he came off having not registered in Liverpool's win over Fulham. But don't mistake his frustration for a bad attitude.

"Sturridge is a goalscorer who wants to score goals. He has been brilliant since coming to Liverpool and his goals to games ratio is tremendous.

"And it is testament to his desire that he wants to add to that record. Sturridge cannot get too down-hearted about not scoring but I understand his frustrations because I used to be like that."

Luis Suarez's double took him level on goals with Sturridge for the season, with both players having now scored eight times in the Premier League.
