Gareth Southgate does not think that the "minor strain" suffered by Dele Alli against Spain will rule him out of Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed that the "minor strain" suffered by Dele Alli is unlikely to rule him out of Tottenham Hotspur's meeting with Liverpool.

Alli was forced to withdraw from the Three Lions' squad on the eve of their friendly against Switzerland in Leicester due to a muscular problem sustained in the loss to Spain.

The 22-year-old will now return to Tottenham to undergo treatment, and Southgate expects the attacking midfielder to be available for selection when Liverpool travel to Wembley Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

"He has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but tomorrow's game will come too quickly," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference.

Southgate also confirmed that no replacement midfielder will be called up for Tuesday's friendly at the King Power Stadium.
