Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo is set to be out for three months after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury.

Liverpool are set to be without the services of Arthur Melo until the new year due to a thigh injury.

The midfielder joined the Reds on loan from Juventus on transfer deadline day, but he has only played 13 minutes for the senior side due to a lack of match fitness.

Arthur has featured for the club's Under-21 side in games against Leicester City and Rochdale in a bid to improve his fitness levels and impress Jurgen Klopp.

However, Arthur suffered a setback in training last week as he suffered a thigh injury, which required the 26-year-old to undergo surgery on Saturday.

Although the operation went as planned, the Brazilian is expected to be out of action for three months, with a comeback being targeted for the new year.

Following the surgery, Arthur is believed to be in an upbeat mood and is already focused on his recovery.
