Jurgen Klopp has "no idea" if Daniel Sturridge will be fit for season opener

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that he has "no idea" if Daniel Sturridge will be fit for their opening Premier League game of the season against Arsenal.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he has "no idea" if Daniel Sturridge will be fit for the team's Premier League opener against Arsenal this Sunday.

The 26-year-old has had a string of injury problems in the last couple of years, making just 43 appearances across the previous two seasons.

Sturridge was left out of the squad for Saturday's pre-season 4-0 win over Barcelona at Wembley as a 'precaution'.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo, when asked for a one-word answer on Sturridge's availability for the Arsenal clash, Klopp told reporters: "No idea. That's a two-word answer!"

The Reds have suffered some injury problems in the build-up to the new season, as James Milner, Dejan Lovren, Lucas Leiva, Loris Karius, Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez all have questions marks surrounding them.

Liverpool will take on Arsenal at the Emirates.
