Martin Skrtel delighted by Champions League return for Liverpool

Martin Skrtel reveals that he is excited by Liverpool's return to the Champions League.

Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has revealed that he is delighted by the team's return to the Champions League.

The Reds secured a place in the competition for the first time in five years last season by finishing in second place in the Premier League table.

Having had a taste of Champions League nights at Anfield during the start of his career with Liverpool, Skrtel is excited that those occasions will be back next term.

"It's the best competition in the world, everyone wants to play in it," he told the club's official website. "I had the opportunity to sample the atmosphere of it during my early years in Liverpool and I'm glad I'll now be able to experience it again."

Skrtel scored seven goals in 39 appearances for Liverpool during the 2013-14 campaign.
