Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has warned that he will not pay over the odds for any player.
The Foxes boss is close to signing former Inter Milan midfielder Esteban Cambiasso on a free transfer.
However, Pearson has admitted that it has been tough to bring players to the newly-promoted club this summer.
"It's proven to be more difficult this window," Clubcall.com quotes him as saying. "There is a possibility of inflating prices because there is a need for it but my recommendation on it is 'don't do it'.
"We've had our fingers burnt in the past with doing deals late in the window. I recognise we need one or two extra players but I'm certainly not going to be held to ransom.
"My advice to the football club is if we can't get the people we want, I don't want to pad it out with players who are not the right fit or not good enough."
Leicester lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
