Billy Sharp reveals Ipswich Town rejection

Billy Sharp says that he rejected the chance to sign for Ipswich Town in favour of staying at Leeds United.

Leeds United striker Billy Sharp has revealed that he turned down the chance to join Ipswich Town during the recent winter transfer window.

It had been suggested that due to a lack of action, the 28-year-old would be open to the prospect of leaving Elland Road, with Ipswich a potential destination.

However, the centre-forward has insisted that a combination of him being "settled" in Yorkshire and Ipswich's current striking options resulted in him staying put.

"Leeds said I could have gone [to Ipswich] but I don't want to leave. I'm settled here. It's a great club and I want to score goals for Leeds," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"Ipswich have two good strikers and I wouldn't have played much so I didn't want to leave, but I am a professional footballer and I do want to play more."

Sharp has scored three goals from his 21 appearances for Leeds this season.
