Massimo Morratti: Liverpool "great opportunity" for Phillipe Coutinho

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says that Philippe Coutinho will benefit from first-team football at Liverpool.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has said that moving to Liverpool is a "great opportunity" for Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds are believed to have agreed a fee for the 20-year-old, which has been quoted as being between £8.5m and £10.2m.

Coutinho has failed to nail down a regular place in the team since his move from Vasco de Gama in 2010 and spent time on loan at Espanyol last season.

Moratti believes that the deal with Liverpool is one that will see all parties satisfied.

"There are opportunities to be taken and at times players can have the chance to get more playing time," the 67-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

"This is why I think it can be a great opportunity for Coutinho and a deal that could go well for us too."

Coutinho's only cap for Brazil came in a friendly with Iran in 2010.
