An ankle injury will keep Hull City centre-back Paul McShane out of action for around "16 weeks".

Hull City defender Paul McShane has been ruled out for the remainder of the Championship season.

The former Manchester United trainee has been struggling of late with an ankle injury that has limited his number of appearances.

However, despite the fact that he has been told that he will not require surgery, a short statement on the club's official website confirmed that he would have to spend the next "16 weeks" on the sidelines.

The 27-year-old joined the Tigers on a permanent basis from Sunderland in 2009.
