Hull City manager Steve Bruce has warned Harry Maguire and Andrew Robertson that they both face a battle to secure a regular spot in the team this season.
The club confirmed the arrivals of the pair on Tuesday, with central defender Maguire joining from Sheffield United and Robertson moving to the KC Stadium from Dundee United, and Bruce is happy to have increased competition for places.
"I am always on the look-out for good young players to bring into the squad here, and Andy and Harry are two of the most talented around, that's for sure," Bruce told reporters.
"There's no doubt in my mind that they both have huge futures in the game ahead of them, but they know they are going to have to battle to get an immediate place in the side on a week-to-week basis.
"We shall be fighting on four fronts this season - the Premier League, Europa League, FA and League Cups - so it was important for us to get the squad numbers up. That's one of the reasons they've been brought in."
Hull meet FK AS Trencin in the third qualifying round of the Europa League on Thursday.
