Nahki Wells wins it for Huddersfield Town against Bolton Wanderers

Huddersfield Town earn a slender 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the Championship, thanks to a late finish from Nahki Wells at the John Smith's Stadium.

A late goal from substitute Nahki Wells earned Huddersfield Town a slender 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers in the Championship this afternoon.

Bolton stole the lead in the very first minute of the game as Pratley profited from a set piece, with the midfielder picking up the ball in the centre of the box before lashing high into the roof of the net after just 41 seconds.

The Terriers sought to hit back and they made good inroads through Tommy Smith, who crossed for Murray Wallace, only to see his headed attempt fly just past the wrong side of the right post.

James Vaughan was then wasteful for the home side when he was played in by Sean Scannell and shot straight at a thankful Andy Lonergan, while Harry Bunn may have done better with a header moments later.

The hosts at the John Smith's Stadium pulled level right on the stroke of half time when Jonathan Hogg picked out Jacob Butterfield, who sent his strike across the face of goal and into the bottom-left corner.

Seeking to push on from his first-half heroics, Butterfield came close to a double just a few minutes into the second period as he drew a smart stop from Lonergan in the centre of the Bolton goal.

Vaughan was next to come close in the 72nd minute as he leapt highest to send a header wide as Chris Powell's side went in search of all three points.

With the game heading for a draw, substitute Wells had other ideas as he latched onto Hogg's through ball to fire into the bottom-left corner and steal a vital victory for Huddersfield which lifts them to 18th in the table.
