Hibernian have been granted permission by Inverness Caledonian Thistle to hold talks with manager Terry Butcher.
Hibs are currently looking for a new boss following the departure of Pat Fenlon last week.
Reports on Tuesday claimed that Hibernian were eager to appoint Butcher at Easter Road, but Inverness later confirmed that they had not been approached by any club for the 54-year-old.
Inverness chairman Kenny Cameron told the club's official website: "Terry has been informed of the situation and has expressed an interest in meeting with Hibs officials.
"The club has, with great reluctance, granted him permission to do so. We will, however, continue to do everything possible to ensure that Terry remains our manager."
Butcher joined Caley Thistle in 2009 following spells with Coventry City, Sunderland, Motherwell, Sydney FC and Brentford.
