Jason Scotland released by Hamilton Academical

Jason Scotland and Hamilton Academical agree to part company after the veteran striker fell out of favour at New Douglas Park.

Former Swansea City and Ipswich Town striker Jason Scotland is searching for a new club after seeing his contract at Scottish Premiership side Hamilton Academical terminated.

The 35-year-old veteran has spent 12 months at New Douglas Park, scoring one of the goals which helped Accies beat Hibernian in last season's playoff final to secure promotion from the Championship.

However, having made just three starts in the league this season, Scotland agreed to call time on his spell at Hamilton.

Speaking to the club's official website, player-manager Alex Neil said: "Jason has been a model professional during his time with us and has had a big influence in the dressing room, particularly with the young players.

"I've no doubt that he will add these same values to his next club and he will always be made welcome here at Accies."

Scotland scored 11 goals during his year-long stint at Hamilton.
