France, Germany players stayed overnight at Stade de France

It is revealed that the national teams of both France and Germany stayed overnight inside the Stade de France after the terror attacks across Paris.

The national teams of France and Germany both spent Friday night inside the Stade de France following the terror attacks on Paris.

The stadium was one of six locations targeted in a coordinated attack for which Islamic State has today claimed responsibility.

Three people died just outside the stadium as suicide bombers detonated in food outlets and the explosions could be heard from inside as the international friendly played on, with France defeating the world champions 2-0.

Many inside were unaware of the other attacks taking place across the city that have left at least 128 dead and hundreds more in hospital.

Germany have now flown home after last night deciding not to go back to their hotel, which had a bomb scare earlier on Friday.

The French players decided to stay at the stadium with their opponents in a show of solidarity instead of leaving once the surrounding area was declared secure.

"The French said that they were staying as long as Germany had to stay," said the German Football Association's caretaker president Reinhard Rauball.

"That was an outstanding gesture of camaraderie."

France's match against England at Wembley will go ahead as planned on Tuesday, but there are doubts over Germany's scheduled friendly with the Netherlands.
