Eliaquim Mangala says that he cannot wait to get started at Everton after joining the Toffees from Manchester City on loan.

Eliaquim Mangala has revealed that he cannot wait to get started at Everton after joining the Toffees from Manchester City on loan for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign.

Mangala, 26, was deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium following the arrival of Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao.

Everton swooped to land the Frenchman ahead of a number of clubs, and the centre-back has revealed that he is "very excited" to join the Merseyside outfit.

"Everton is a very good team with quality players, and I want to play in a team that has a lot of quality and ambition," Mangala told evertontv.

"I want to bring my experience and all my energy. There is already quality and experience at the club but it is very important for me to come here and add something more to the team.

"I am fresh and fit and very motivated – and I am very excited about showing my qualities here. I am ready to play and ready to win games – like tonight (the 2-1 victory over Leicester City), that is the most important thing for me."

Mangala could make his Everton debut in Saturday's trip to Arsenal in the Premier League.
