Bryan Oviedo to miss internationals with knee injury

Everton defender Bryan Oviedo withdraws from Costa Rica's squad to stay with his club for treatment on a knee injury.

Everton have announced that Bryan Oviedo will not be linking up with the Costa Rica squad during the international break after picking up a knee injury.

The defender, who has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons, sustained a knock in the Capital One Cup against Barnsley last week, which was aggravated in the draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

As a result, the Toffees have said that the 25-year-old will stay on Merseyside rather than joining up with the national side to receive treatment, and is expected to be out for around 10 days.

Costa Rica are due to play friendlies against Brazil and Uruguay.
