England women join France in Group C for Euro 2013

England women are drawn in Group C with top seeds France for the group phase of Euro 2013.

The England women's national team will go up against France in the group stage of the 2013 European Championships.

Hope Powell's team will face the French in Sweden next summer, when they will also have to go up against Russia and Spain in order to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Brits managed to avoid facing the hosts and Germany, to whom they lost 6-2 in the 2009 final, while the Germans were joined with the Netherlands, Norway and Iceland.

The two top teams from each group will reach the quarter-finals stage, which will then proceed to a straight knockout competition.
