Brentford forward Ivan Toney is confident about his chances of securing a place in the England squad for Euro 2024.

Brentford forward Ivan Toney is hopeful that he has done enough to seal a spot in the England squad for Euro 2024.

After making his England debut in March 2023, Toney had to wait a year before earning his second international cap in Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Belgium at Wembley.

Toney enjoyed a successful outing for the Three Lions, scoring his first international goal to restore parity after Youri Tielemans had given Belgium the lead.

After being brought down in the box, Toney picked himself up to calmly dispatch the subsequent spot kick to register his first England goal.

Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham went on to net a 95th-minute equaliser after Tielemans had restored Belgium's slender advantage.

Toney was given 80 minutes of action in Tuesday's friendly, before he was replaced by Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.

With Harry Kane assured of his place in the England squad, there has been a suggestion that only one of Toney or Watkins will be included in Southgate's final squad for Euro 2024.

After putting in an impressive performance against Belgium, Toney is confident that he has done enough to convince Southgate to take him to Germany.

"I hope I did [impress]," Toney told Sky Sports after the game. "I'm always going to work hard and support the boys.

"Ollie is my competition, but it's friendly competition and I wish him all the best every time he goes on the pitch.

"I felt like I did well today and hopefully I've given myself a good chance to put my name forward and be there for the Euros."

Toney will now turn his attention back to club matters, with the striker looking to fire Brentford to safety over the next two months.

The 28-year-old spent eight months out of action due to a betting ban, before he returned to first-team action in January.

After scoring four goals in his first five matches, Toney failed to find the net in his final five appearances prior to the international break.

Despite experiencing a slight dip in form for the Bees, the forward is expected to start when Thomas Frank's side face Manchester United on Saturday.
