Roy Hodgson: 'Staying on as England manager beyond Euro 2016 a possibility'

Roy Hodgson reveals that he "does not know" if he will remain as England manager beyond next year's Euro 2016 finals, but he admits that staying on does appeal to him.

Roy Hodgson has admitted that he does not yet know if he will remain as England manager beyond Euro 2016.

The Three Lions boss has a contract which runs until the end of next year's tournament, at which time he was widely expected to step down following more than four years in charge.

However, Hodgson has declared that he currently feels happy enough to continue in the role beyond the finals should Football Association chiefs opt to stick rather than twist.

"We'll see, I don't know. At the moment I feel good and I don't feel anything like my age and I hope that will continue for a few more years," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "I prefer to let the future take care of itself and see what develops from there so it's not something that occupies me at the moment.

"I am quite confident When the day comes I will know what the right time is and I'll do it but I have an important job to do which I really enjoy and as for 2018 and 2020 we will see.

"I haven't made any decision. I retired at 60 before I went to Fulham and was on the way to Inter Milan to join Massimo Moratti as his presidential advisor and go into semi retirement. But here I am eight years later working in the biggest job in the country so that taught me not to make any decisions on those things."

Hodgson has taken charge of 37 games as manager of England, winning 21 and losing just five since being appointed in 2012.
