Former England defender Alvin Martin has labelled Ashley Young as a "proper" England player following his display against Norway.
The Manchester United midfielder scored what proved to be the winning goal as the Three Lions triumphed 1-0 in Oslo in a game that saw Young play just behind main striker Andy Carroll. Martin claims that the 26-year-old has now announced himself on the international scene.
"He was good against Norway, he's now a proper England player," Martin told talkSPORT.
"When people step up to international level they either sink or swim. Some people are just pleased to be there but some arrive with a swagger and Ashley Young is one of those players.
"It'll be interesting to see where Roy Hodgson plays him, whether it's down the middle all the time or out wide. He can play both."
Young has now scored four goals in his last four England appearances.
