Dundee remain confident despite Kilmarnock defeat, says Woods

It ended a four-game unbeaten run.

Dundee midfielder Martin Woods insists confidence has not been battered ahead of their trip to Aberdeen.

Dundee's four-game unbeaten run ended with a 3-1 defeat at Kilmarnock on Saturday as three second-half goals cost the visitors before Kenny Miller netted a late consolation.

Woods felt Dundee lost their shape after the opening goal but showed enough before the break to suggest they can compete with teams in the upper echelons of the Ladbrokes Premiership.

They will need to show similar first-half form with a more clinical edge if they are to succeed on Tuesday at Aberdeen, who have won seven of their last nine matches to move four points off the top.

But Woods is confident they have learned lessons from their Rugby Park setback.

"We were unbeaten in four so we have still got confidence," the former Ross County and Partick Thistle player told DeeTV.

"I feel as if we can match most teams in this league. Celtic are obviously a wee bit further head of the rest but I think you can go and have go at the other teams.

"Aberdeen are definitely beatable, I feel. So we will go there with confidence hoping we can get a good, positive result."

Woods added: "The first half on Saturday we were really in it. If we had got that first goal, we would have gone on and won that game, I'm positive of that.

"It was a really disappointing day and we need to go again Tuesday and get lifted, get ourselves organised and go again.

"It was a lot more disappointing at the end where we got far too stretched and the game ended up a bit of a shambles, and that's not us. We have got to be a lot better than that. We have got to have a look at that and make sure it never happens again.

"We need to know if we do go 1-0 down, we do the same things what we have been doing the full game, and that's something we never did towards the end of the second half.

"We will go into Tuesday better off for it because we will have learned."
