Stuart Armstrong "over the moon" at reaching Scottish Cup final

Dundee United midfielder Stuart Armstrong admits that he is "over the moon" after helping his side beat Rangers 3-1 and reach the Scottish Cup final.

Dundee United midfielder Stuart Armstrong has praised his side's progress to the Scottish Cup final after seeing off Rangers 3-1 this afternoon, admitting that they "dreamed" of such an occasion at the start of the season.

First-half goals from Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven saw the Tangerines take a 2-0 lead before Stevie Smith pulled a goal back in the 42nd minute, but a late strike from Nadir Ciftci ensured that the away side would make the final two.

Armstrong told reporters after the game: "We're all over the moon. To get to a final is something we all dreamed of at the start of the season.

"We started brightly but we let them back into the game before the third goal killed them off. A lot of people thought it would be a one-sided affair but we certainly didn't underestimate Rangers."

Dundee United will meet the winners of tomorrow's game between Aberdeen and St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup final.
