Steve McClaren: 'Derby County deserved Rotherham United win'

Derby County boss Steve McClaren says that his troops were good value for their slender 1-0 win over Roterham United in their Championship season opener.

Steve McClaren believes that his Derby County side fully deserved their 1-0 victory over Rotherham United in their opening game of the Championship season today.

The Rams had to be patient in order to find the breakthrough as Jeff Hendrick pounced on 82 minutes to end Rotherham's stubborn resistance and snatch the three points.

Speaking to Derby's official website, McClaren claimed that his troops were good value for the win.

"I think we deserved the win today," he said. "We had to be patient and grind the opponent down. It was a great goal from Jeff."

Derby now turn their attention to Carlisle United for their Capital One Cup clash on Monday night.
