Derby County manager Nigel Clough is set to include 15-year-old Mason Bennett in his squad for Saturday's game at Middlesbrough.
The striker, who was born on the day of Paul Gascoigne's famous dentist chair celebration at Euro 96, will become the Rams' youngest ever player if he features, beating the previous record held by Lee Holmes by 169 days.
"Mason is someone we have to be patient with, but we can't deny that we're very excited about him," said Clough.
"We wanted to take him with us to Reading, but we were mindful that he had to be in at school nice and early the following day!
"It won't be a problem this weekend though, because he's breaking up for half-term next week."
Bennett is already an England Under-16s international and scored twice in the 3-1 win over Northern Ireland last month.
