Getafe boss "convinced" Crystal Palace-linked keeper Vicente Guaita will stay

Vicente Guaita will remain a Getafe player beyond the end of the January transfer window, according to the Spanish club's manager Jose Bordalas.

Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has said that he is "convinced" his side will successfully fend off interest from Crystal Palace for goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

The Eagles' search for a new number one has seen them turn to the 31-year-old, who is understood to have already undergone a successful medical at Selhurst Park.

Palace have the option of signing Guaita on a pre-contract agreement, with his current terms at Getafe due to expire in the summer, but a report in the British press this week claimed that the Premier League club would rather pay a £3.5m transfer fee to get a deal complete.

Bordalas reckons that the ex-Valencia stopper is going nowhere for now, though, telling reporters at his weekly press conference: "I think he will stay, I am convinced about that.

"I have spoken to my president about it. He has now recovered from injury and has trained with his teammates and I think I can include him in our next game."

Guaita, also linked with Watford earlier in the transfer window, has kept five clean sheets in 18 matches this season.
