Darron Ambrose is the star of the show as Crystal Palace overcames Watford 4-0.

A Darren Ambrose-inspired Crystal Palace recorded a 4-0 win over Watford this afternoon.

It was the away side who came closest to opening the scoring, when Jonathan Hogg struck a powerful effort after five minutes, but it drifted just wide of the post.

Palace began to influence proceedings as the half wore on, however, with Darren Ambrose producing a series of telling crosses.

The home side took the lead after 22 minutes when Jermaine Easter produced a dangerous cross and Wilfried Zaha bundled the ball over the line after nervous defending from the away side.

It was almost two just past the 30-minute mark when Patrick McCarthy found himself unmarked inside the area, but his header drifted over the bar.

Palace did grab their second, however, after 38 minutes when Chris Martin headed an Ambrose cross into the back of the net to send them into a comfortable lead.

The home side made it three after 50 minutes when Martin grabbed his second of the afternoon following good work from Ambrose and Easter.

Palace continued to dominate possession as the match wore on and added a fourth when Kagisho Dikgacoi stabbed home after a corner from Ambrose.

Watford refused to buckle in the latter stages and twice went close to cutting the deficit through Gavin Massie, but Julian Speroni resisted the late pressure.

Palace will look to continue their winning run when they travel to West Ham next Saturday, while Watford host Southampton.
