Preview: Crawley Town vs. Newport County - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's League Two clash between Crawley Town and Newport County, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two teams in the bottom half of League Two will compete on Saturday as Crawley Town will continue to try and push themselves off the foot of the table when they host Newport County.

Neither club has started the season positively, and the Red Devils will be hoping to create a positive performance following the dismissal of their previous manager.

Crawley Town have only managed a single victory in their opening 12 League Two games, which is a disappointing run that has left them bottom of the table right now.

Their poor run of form led to Kevin Betsy losing his job in midweek, and the Red Devils will be hoping to showcase the ability to bounce back with interim manager Lewis Young.

Crawley Town have let in 22 goals so far this season, with only one club having conceded more goals, which has been a big issue for them.

Their most recent outing highlighted that problem as the Red Devils were beaten 3-0 against Grimsby Town, which marked their fifth defeat in a row.

Despite their difficult start to the campaign, Crawley could get out of the relegation zone with a victory.

Much like their opponents, Newport County also recently decided a change in management was needed, with James Rowberry losing his job as the club looks for a fresh start.

The visitors have not managed to muster many wins themselves throughout this campaign, with just three taking place to this point.

However, those points have proven to be enough to just keep them away from the relegation zone in 18th place, but Newport County will want to start moving up the table.

To do that they will need an improvement on recent performances, as their previous two games both ended in 1-0 defeats.

The lack of goals is something that cost Newport County in each of those games, and is a situation the team will look to address on Saturday if possible.

A win can move them up three places if other results go in their favour though, which would be a major progression for the club.

Team News

Crawley Town could end up having a very different look this weekend due to the fact there is a new man in the dugout, making it difficult to predict the team that he will predict.

However, one name that Young will definitely be without is James Balagizi, who has returned to parent club Liverpool for tests on a suspected injury.

The visitors are also in a period of change when it comes to the management department, which could lead to several alterations across the starting XI in the upcoming fixtures.

Pressure is mounting on the Newport County attackers to start finding their shooting boots after two games with no goals, with Will Evans and Omar Bogle expected to start.

Crawley Town possible starting lineup:
Addai; Nadesan, Conroy, Craig, Lynch, Tsaroulla; Fellows, Powell, Nichols; Telford, Tilley

Newport County possible starting lineup:
Day; Norman, Clarke, Demetriou; Lewis, Willmott, Wildig, Moriah-Welsh, A. Lewis; Bogle, Evans

We say: Crawley Town 1-1 Newport County

Neither club has started their individual seasons brightly, and both will be searching for three points this weekend in a bid to start building some momentum.

However, the fact that each team is low on confidence is something that could lead to cautious play, resulting in a draw.
