Rafael Benitez says that Frank Lampard can play his way into England's 2014 World Cup squad, should they qualify for the tournament.

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez has said that he has no doubts that Frank Lampard can represent England in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 34-year-old netted the Three Lions' winner in their 2-1 win over Brazil during the week, and scored the Blues' third in their 4-1 victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The midfielder's current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, but Benitez is certain that Lampard can continue to play at the highest level.

When asked if the midfielder could feature in Brazil, Benitez said: "Yes, I think so. He is a good professional. If he has no injuries he can still play at a good level."

Lampard has scored nine times in his last 14 outings for Chelsea to move within four of Bobby Tambling's club record of 202.
