Jose Mourinho: 'No problem with Loic Remy fitness'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho quells any fears over the fitness of incoming striker Loic Remy by insisting that "he does not have a problem to play football".

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that there is "no problem" with the fitness of Loic Remy.

Remy's current Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp confirmed that the forward is close to a move to Chelsea prior to his side's 1-0 victory over Sunderland yesterday.

However, question marks over the Frenchman's fitness were raised when Liverpool pulled out of a deal to sign Remy at the eleventh hour due to problems during his medical at Melwood.

Nonetheless, Mourninho has said that the information that he has received from Chelsea's doctor has caused no issues so far.

"We have a fantastic doctor and I trust him completely," Mourinho is quoted as saying by ESPN. "They will identify any problem.

"He has lots of people working with him in different areas, and for sure we'll try to identify clearly what the situation is.

"The information we have from specialists in different areas is that he does not have a problem to play football."

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, where he scored 14 goals in 26 appearances.
