Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo remains a January target for Manchester United, according to a report.

Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly still interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo before the end of the January transfer window.

A number of clubs, including Manchester United, were linked with the Ecuador international in 2021, but it was Brighton that secured his signature from Independiente del Valle.

The 21-year-old has made 30 appearances for the Seagulls in all competitions, contributing two goals and three assists in the process, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future.

According to Sky Sports News, both Chelsea and Liverpool remain interested in securing the midfielder's signature before the end of the January transfer window.

The report claims that Brighton are 'under no pressure' to sell, but the two Premier League giants have not given up hope of signing him this month.

Brighton chief executive Paul Barber recently told CBS Sports that the club had not received any offers for the midfielder.

"I'm pleased to say we haven't had any," Barber said. "Maybe Liverpool have not got my email because I haven't seen any.

"I'm not sure £42m will even include the boots now, maybe just the laces. But joking aside, every player's value is ultimately determined by the market.

"Graham's (Graham Potter) comments were part in jest but part serious because Moises has been an exceptional player for us. Since he came to the Premier League, he has developed all the time.

"He's a young man with a great attitude, fantastic work ethic and a very nice human being off the pitch. So all those things contribute to the value of a footballer should it come to that moment to sell."

Caicedo has been a vital player for Brighton during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring once and providing one assist in 20 appearances in all competitions.

The Ecuadorian was not involved in the 4-2 loss to Arsenal at the end of December, but he has helped his side win their last two in the league against Everton and Liverpool.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Enzo Fernandez this month, but Benfica have thus far resisted the interest in the Argentina international.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are also eyeing a new central midfielder, with Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham believed to be their leading target for 2023.

Newcastle United are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the situation surrounding Caicedo.
