Cesc Fabregas will have to take 'a significant pay cut' if he wishes to sign a new deal at Chelsea, according to a report.

Cesc Fabregas will reportedly have to take 'a significant pay cut' if he wishes to sign a new deal at Chelsea.

Fabregas will see his £160,000-a-week deal with the Blues expire at the end of this season, and his future at the club is far from secure.

The 31-year-old has not started a Premier League match under Maurizio Sarri, but he did score against Derby County in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

According to the London Evening Standard, Fabregas wants to sign a new deal at Chelsea, but talks are yet to take place and the Spaniard would have to be prepared to accept 'a significant pay cut' to stand a chance of extending his contract.

Fabregas, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2014, made 49 appearances in all competitions for the Blues during the 2017-18 campaign.

The midfielder has made 189 appearances for Chelsea in total since the move from Camp Nou, meanwhile, scoring 22 times and registering 55 assists for the English giants.
