Ryan Bertrand keen on permanent Southampton move

Ryan Bertrand says that he would like to join Southampton on a permanent basis from Chelsea in the summer after impressing for the Saints on loan so far.

Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand has expressed an interest in making his loan move to Southampton permanent in the summer.

The left-back has been ever present in a Saints team that has proven one of the surprise packages so far after playing all nine of their Premier League outings.

Ronald Koeman's side sit second in the table, four points behind the 25-year-old's parent club, and Bertrand admits that he is keen on the prospect of a permanent switch to the South Coast.

"It is one of them things where I've got to wait and see, but, for me, there's no reason why not, to be honest," he told Sky Sports News.

"There is a good base to the club, we're pulling in the right direction. We have fantastic fans, fantastic players, a fantastic manager and the coaching staff.

"It has been a good experience for me so far so I don't see why not. For me, it is a first in many aspects, especially with the consistency of football I'm getting."

Last week, Koeman himself said that he would like to sign the defender outright.
