Andreas Christensen hints at Chelsea stay

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen admits that he is unhappy with his lack of playing time under Maurizio Sarri but hints that he is not looking to leave in January.

Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has suggested that he has no plans to leave the club during the January transfer window, despite his lack of first-team football.

Christensen enjoyed a breakthrough season under Antonio Conte last term with 40 appearances across all competitions, but the switch from three central defenders to two has meant a drastic decrease in playing time under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

Indeed, the 22-year-old has played just six times so far this term and is yet to feature for a single minute in the Premier League, and he admits that he is not happy with the current situation.

When asked whether his future lies away from Stamford Bridge, Christensen told Sky Sports News: "Difficult question. No, I don't think so. Things are different from last season. I played a lot of games [last season] but this season it hasn't been like that.

"It's always difficult for a player but we'll see what happens. If you asked every player that's not playing if they're happy, they're going to say no. Everyone wants to play. I can't do anything else but go back there, train and do my best.

"Every time I get that opportunity, I have to do well and show him that he can count on me. You don't want to sit around and wait for it. You want to play straight away and that's why we all play football. Not playing is not fun. It's a different situation to last season."

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 18 matches across all competitions under Sarri.
