Police confirm that they are no longer investigating a complaint made against Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg.

The Metropolitan Police have revealed that they have ceased an investigation into a complaint made by the Society of Black Lawyers against match official Mark Clattenburg.

The group had alleged that Clattenburg had made a racist remark to Chelsea's John Obi Mikel during his side's 3-2 defeat to Manchester United a fortnight ago at Stamford Bridge.

However, the authorities have insisted that no victim has come forward, thus making criminal proceedings impossible.

They went on to say that the situation will only change if either Chelsea or Mikel decide to make a statement to them.

Clattenburg is also currently under investigation by the Football Association, who are believed to be close to reaching a verdict over the matter.
