Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck believes that the Champions League winners have conducted themselves in the right way with regards to the allegations made towards referee Mark Clattenburg.
The Premier League side requested an investigation by the Football Association after accusing the 37-year-old official of using "inappropriate language" when speaking to midfielder John Obi Mikel during the Blues' 3-2 defeat to Manchester United last month.
"Suppose we had tried to sweep this under the rug and said to the various players, 'Look, it's not a big deal and the press are going to be all over us, maybe you want to reconsider,'" Buck told the London Evening Standard. "If that had leaked out, we would've really been crucified."
Reports have claimed that Clattenburg could learn whether he will face any action from the FA this week.
