UEFA confirm Champions League final suspensions stand

The global football players' union claim that UEFA will not overturn bans for suspended players in the Champions League final for the next three years.

UEFA have informed the global football players' union that they will not lift any suspensions for the Champions League final between Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

FIFPro appealed to the European governing body in an attempt to overturn bans for Chelsea trio Ramires, Raul Meireles and Branislav Ivanovic as well as Bayern players David Alaba, Luiz Gustavo and Holger Badstuber.

Each player picked up a yellow card during their respective semi-finals last month, but UEFA have claimed that the ruling will stand for the next three years.

Blues skipper John Terry will also be out of the highly-anticipated final on May 19 after he was shown a straight red card during his side's victory over Barcelona.
