Roberto Martinez calls for "stubborn" performance

Roberto Martinez believes that Wigan must make it difficult for Chelsea to be themselves this afternoon.

Roberto Martinez has said that Wigan must be "stubborn" when Andre Villas-Boas's side travel to the DW Stadium this afternoon.

The Latics, who secured their second win in three games at West Brom last weekend, have now moved off the bottom of the table above both Blackburn and Bolton. However, the Spaniard knows that his side will face a tough test against Chelsea.

"It is going to be an exciting game," he told the club's official website. "I think it really shows that when we play against a team like Chelsea that Wigan Athletic as a club is competing at the highest level.

"We need to be very stubborn and we need to make sure that we work very hard to make it difficult for them to play their game.

"We also need to find the right ways to hurt them and make sure that we can be a threat in the final third."

A win for Wigan would mark the club's first back-to-back victories of the season.
