Former Chelsea defender Alex hints that "big names" within the Blues squad thought that they were more important than others at the club.

Former Chelsea defender Alex has criticised the dynamic of the Blues squad by claiming that there are too many egos within the team.

The 29-year-old moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window after deciding to quit Stamford Bridge following eight years with the former Premier League champions.

"I feel better at PSG than I did at Chelsea," said Alex. "Chelsea's squad had a lot of big names and that entails a lot of egoism.

"Nobody at PSG feels more important than the others. We're at the start of a big adventure and we're all pulling in the same direction."

Player power has been touted as a possible reason behind Andre Villas-Boas's departure from the helm of Chelsea, with reports claiming that the Portuguese boss had a difficult relationship with Blues veteran Frank Lampard.
