Jose Mourinho: 'We controlled the game'

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claims that his side dominated this afternoon's FA Cup fourth-round match against Stoke City from start to finish.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that his side controlled their match against Stoke City from start to finish this afternoon.

The Blues edged into the fifth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 win over the Potters at Stamford Bridge, although the final scoreline only tells a little of the story as the London club also hit the upright twice and missed a number of other good chances.

Despite his side only winning by the odd goal, Mourinho was happy with his side's performance and reserved special praise for Oscar, who scored the winner with a stunning free kick.

"The free kick obviously made us happy. It's always good when you see a player that, after the normal training session, dedicates some minutes every day to train a specific thing. To score a beautiful goal was good," PA quotes Mourinho as saying.

"It's a bit of a contradiction because we played so well and you win with a free-kick. When you play so well you win by scoring some amazing goals in free play.

"The 1-0 doesn't reflect the quality of our game and the dominance of our game. We hit the post twice. [Stoke goalkeeper Asmir] Begovic again showed how good he is. The boys played really well. We controlled the game since minute one and I'm happy not just with the victory, but also the performance."

Chelsea's victory earned them a match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the fifth round of the competition.
