Bury beat Preston North End thanks to Andrew Tutte penalty

Preston North End succumb to a 3-2 loss to League One Bury after Andrew Tutte scores from the penalty spot.

League One side Bury beat Championship side Preston North End 3-2 in a mixed game at Gigg Lane this afternoon.

The match sparked into life after 10 minutes with Tom Soares opening the scoring for Bury, smashing in from close range. Joe Garner equalised almost straight away though, after cutting in from out wide and slotting the ball past Christian Walton.

Will Keane then got Preston in front, knocking Garner's rebounded header into the back of the net.

The rest of the half and most of the second was a poor affair with neither team looking like scoring.

Leon Clarke got Bury back in to the game with a poacher's effort, knocking in from a few yards out after capitalising on a potentially harmless ball.

Andrew Tutte then gave the League One side the lead after sending a penalty past Jordan Pickford.

Bury's first league game of the season will be away to Doncaster on August 8.
