Brighton & Hove Albion make light work of Burton Albion test

Brighton & Hove Albion easily progress to the fourth round of the League Cup with a 3-0 victory away at Burton Albion.

Brighton & Hove Albion showed their class to ease past Burton Albion in a 3-0 victory in the League Cup third round tonight.

It was the League Two side who almost went ahead after 15 minutes, but Lewis Dunk cleared off the line from Dominic Knowles's close-range shot.

However, Brighton went in front just three minutes later when Rohan Ince nodded home from a yard out after a precise headed pass by Adam Chicksen.

Kazenga LuaLua then forced Jon McLaughlin into a good save as the Championship side began to show their quality in the final third.

The diminutive striker made no mistake in the 37th minute when he powered a long-range strike into the bottom corner after a penetrative run.

Chris O'Grady almost put the game out of sight with a powerful strike after the break, but McLaughlin made a fingertip save to deny him.

However, the third Brighton goal did arrive shortly after when Craig Makail-Smith showed his predatory instincts to hook home a loose ball from close range.

Brighton's reward for the victory is a trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the fourth round.
