Sheffield Wednesday see off Bournemouth

Sheffield Wednesday score late on to beat Bournemouth 4-2 in their Championship match at Dean Court.

Bournemouth's hopes of reaching the Championship playoffs have taken a blow after losing 4-2 against 10-man Sheffield Wednesday at Dean Court this afternoon.

Kieran Lee threatened for the visitors in the opening stages, but saw his powerful effort go just wide of the post.

The hosts had a chance of their own when Lewis Grabban fired in a low strike across goal that was tipped round the post by Chris Kirkland.

In the 16th minute it was the away side who broke the deadlock when Atdhe Nuhiu drilled home an effort from the edge of the box after Ian Harte had given the ball away.

Bournemouth were back on level terms just past the half-hour mark through Marc Pugh, who headed in from Lewis Grabban's cross.

It did not take the Owls long to regain their lead, as within two minutes Sam Hutchinson glanced in a header from close range following a long throw-in.

Andrew Surman came close to scoring for the hosts in the final minute of the first half, but saw his close-range effort saved by Kirkland.

Within 12 minutes of the second half Bournemouth equalised for the second time in the match, when Yann Kermorgant headed in from Harte's corner.

The Cherries almost took the lead just moments later, but Grabban turned Simon Francis's low cross wide of the post.

In the 63rd minute Wednesday were reduced to 10 men after Hutchinson picked up his second yellow card of the afternoon.

The hosts took control of the game and Grabban forced Kirkland to push his effort behind, before Kermorgant's free kick came crashing off the bar.

With four minutes of the match left to play the visitors took the lead for the third time. Michail Antonio saw his strike hit the bar and Leon Best followed up to fire the ball into the net.

In the sixth minute of stoppage time Wednesday made sure of the three points when Chris Maguire slotted home from Best's pass following a quick break.
