Bournemouth goalkeeper Adam Federici has stated that he is looking to become the club's first choice between the sticks after helping them to reach the fourth round of the League Cup.
The summer signing from Reading saved penalties from Preston North End's Alan Browne, Jordan Hugill and Daniel Johnson in a 2-2 draw at Deepdale in the third round on Tuesday.
Federici hopes that his performance has staked a claim to oust Artur Boruc as Bournemouth's number one.
"I thought I did well in pre-season and was unlucky not to start the season but that's football," the 30-year-old told the Daily Mail.
"I'll continue to work hard. I'm desperate to play, everyone knows that. I love playing and it's not my forte to sit on the bench. I'll keep working hard in training and when my chance comes hopefully I'll take it, like I did."
Bournemouth return to Premier League action this weekend at Stoke City.
