Burton Albion have revealed that manager Gary Rowett has turned down an approach from Blackpool.
Reports emerged earlier today that Rowett was being considered by Blackpool, who look likely to sack Jose Riga after an AWOL trip midway through the season and the club's pointless start to the campaign.
Despite being two divisions higher than League Two Burton in the Championship, Blackpool have been unable to convince Rowett to join them after being given permission to talk to him by Burton.
"Following discussions with Blackpool, I have decided that I will remain at Burton Albion for the foreseeable future," Rowett told the Brewers' website. "I feel as though it is not the right job for me at the present time.
"We've made an excellent start to this season, winning seven out of eight games and I feel we have an excellent group of players in the squad currently. I enjoy working with them immensely and this is a very exciting time to be involved at Burton Albion."
Owen Coyle is also said to have rejected the chance to replace Riga if recently-appointed Belgian is removed as expected.
