Steve Kean promises to investigate claims that fans and club officials clashed during Blackburn's Carling Cup win over Newcastle.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean has promised to investigate allegations that his coaching staff clashed with fans during the team's 4-3 Carling Cup win over Newcastle on Wednesday.

Kean, who has been the subject of protests by supporters, vowed to speak with club safety officers after fans came forward to describe exchanges with staff in the dugout.

"One member of staff in a red jacket started squaring up to the fans. He was giving it out," one fan said after the match.

"He was swearing and looked like he wanted a fight. He was dragged away by a head steward.

"There were insults flying backwards and forwards. This sort of behaviour by officials from a club sums up my feelings of dejection with the club at the moment."

Rovers assistant coach Paul Clement, Kean's chauffeur Matt Hockin and assistant Iain Brunskill are all alleged to have been part of the incident.

"I was not aware of that but I will certainly investigate it," Kean said.

"If anything occurred I will certainly investigate it and speak with our stadium safety officer."

Rovers are currently bottom of the Premier League table with five points from nine games.
