Bayern Munich held by resilient Eintracht Frankfurt

Bayern Munich's winning run in Bundesliga ends at 10 games as Eintracht Frankfurt hold the leaders to a goalless draw.

Bayern Munich failed to win in the Bundesliga for the first time this season as Eintracht Frankfurt produced a resilient defensive performance to secure a goalless draw on Friday evening.

Predictably, the leaders made a strong start to the game and threatened to take an early lead when Arturo Vidal's powerful header was tipped over the crossbar by Lukas Hradecky.

A pattern soon emerged as Bayern dominated proceedings in search of a breakthrough, but Frankfurt improved quickly to limit the opportunities on offer.

Xabi Alonso's ability with a dead ball almost brought the opening goal as his free kick found Javi Martinez, who could only send a header just wide of the post.

After being frustrated in the opening 45 minutes, Bayern were gifted an opportunity early in the second half when a misplaced pass was intercepted by Douglas Costa, but the Brazilian could only send his shot wide.

Despite rarely offering any signs of attacking intent, Frankfurt twice wasted good chances to take the lead against the run of play as Alexander Meier miscued his shot from a promising position, before Manuel Neuer denied Marc Stendera after handing possession to the midfielder.

Robert Lewandowski should have punished the misses when he climbed highest to meet Philipp Lahm's cross moments later, but his header drifted just past the post with Hradecky beaten.

Frankfurt refused to stray from their gameplan in search of a possible winner, and the home fans were left breathing a sigh of relief when Lewandowski fired wide after being released by Arjen Robben's clever lobbed pass.

Celebrations were cut short late on when Lewandowski was halted by the offside flag after finally finding the net, and the disappointment continued for Pep Guardiola's side as Frankfurt held on for the point.
