Bayern Munich made it six points from two matches in the Champions League thanks to a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night.

Thomas Muller scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Mario Fernandes had brought down Mario Gotze inside the box.

CSKA MOSCOW

Goal

Igor Akinfeev: Came in for criticism for his performance against Roma a fortnight ago, but was in impressive form to prevent Bayern from recording a more emphatic win. (7/10)

Defence

Mario Fernandes: Struggled to deal with the lively Juan Bernat, and gifted Bayern the winner with a foolish tackle on Gotze. Poor night for the Brazilian. (5/10)

Aleksei Berezutski: Played a key role in making life difficult for Bayern's attackers, and battled impressively with Robert Lewandowski. (7/10)

Vasili Berezutski: Followed his brother's example as he performed admirably, despite the unwanted scoreline for CSKA. (6/10)

Sergei Ignashevich: The experienced defender fought the temptation to follow Bayern's roaming forwards, and looked pretty comfortable for long periods. (6/10)

Georgi Shchennikov: A regular threat going forward in the first half, and made a number of last-ditch tackles to keep out Bayern after the break. (7/10)

Midfield

Zoran Tosic: The Serbian's end product was disappointing throughout the night as he regularly ignored teammates to unleash poor shots. Missed a great chance to equalise before the break, too. (5/10)

Natcho: Struggled to compete with Alonso and Lahm in midfield, but provided an extra piece of protection for his defence. (6/10)

Roman Eremenko: Twice went close to levelling the scores with fine strikes, the latter of which hit the crossbar. However, he faded as the match progressed. (6/10)

Georgi Milanov: Another player who missed a decent chance before the break, and was often a periphery figure as he tired in the second half. (5/10)

Attack

Ahmed Musa: Led the line impressively, despite receiving very little help from his teammates. Caused problems with his pace, but will feel he should have finished at least one of his chances. (7/10)

Substitutes

Seydou Doumbia: The Ivorian was unable to get involved after coming on as Bayern comfortably held off the late challenge from the hosts. (5/10)

Dmitri Efremov: Couldn't make an impact in the closing stages as CSKA struggled to get hold of the ball. (5/10)

BAYERN MUNICH

Goal

Manuel Neuer: Made a couple of good saves to deny Musa, and was typically impressive cleaning up any long balls over the top. (6/10)

Defence

Dante: Improved as the game went on after being given a tough time by Musa in the first half. (6/10)

Mehdi Benatia Seems to be becoming more comfortable at Bayern in recent weeks, and always looked a calm figure at the back for the visitors. (7/10)

David Alaba: As we've come to expect, he was always willing to pop up in midfield as Bayern's players roamed around the pitch with apparent ease. A typically energetic display. (7/10)

Midfield

Juan Bernat: Played as a genuine winger for long periods to give Fernandes a tough night, before operating from a deeper position to protect Bayern's lead late on. (7/10)

Xabi Alonso: The Spaniard is already such a key player for Bayern, and he contributed well once again with his excellent range of passing in midfield. (7/10)

Philipp Lahm: A trademark performance from the captain. Lahm dictated the tempo alongside Alonso, and was a prominent figure at both ends of the pitch throughout. (8/10)

Arjen Robben: Difficult night for the Dutch winger. Looked lively early on as Bayern started well, but struggled to break free of the determined CSKA defenders. (6/10)

Attack

Mario Gotze: The German spent most of the night in an attacking trio, but his finishing was poor all game and he was eventually replaced by Xherdan Shaqiri in the second half. (5/10)

Robert Lewandowski: Forced to drop deeper to get involved in the game, and was a big threat when facing the CSKA goal. However, he didn't get many chances to score past Akinfeev. (6/10)

Thomas Muller: Made the vital contribution from 12 yards, but didn't make the same kind of impact we're used to seeing from him. (6/10)

Substitutes

Xherdan Shaqiri: Showed a couple of nice touches, but missed a decent chance to wrap up the victory in the closing stages. (6/10)

Rafinha: Introduced to provide extra cover late on, and did his job impressively. (6/10)

Claudio Pizarro: Almost made an immediate impact after coming on in the 90th minute when his effort was blocked by Akinfeev. (6/10)
