Johan Cruyff: 'Barcelona cannot lose Xavi'

Former Barcelona manager Johan Cruyff claims that the Catalan outfit cannot afford to lose Xavi this summer.

Former Barcelona manager Johan Cruyff has called on the Catalan outfit to reject any interest for experienced midfielder Xavi.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, with a trio of Premier League clubs believed to be interested in his services.

However, Cruyff has insisted that the midfielder can still play a key role for the Catalan outfit.

"He's a fantastic player. He always makes a difference in many details and is almost an irreplaceable piece," he told COPE.

"Football is played with the head and with the feet, and when, with age, you can't do much with your feet, your head remains. The older you get, the more brains you have. Without a doubt, he will be counted on next season."

Xavi is currently on international duty with Spain.
